Hi, I’m Michelle Kaderly Welsh. I’ve written 45 blogs for the Storyteller Squad since joining in 2020. This is the 46th. These blogs covered parenting and writing tips, encouragement for parents and aspiring writers, author interviews, and many book reviews of middle-grade and young adult novels. I’ve enjoyed sharing with you.
While our Storyteller Squad website concludes, our team hopes you will continue to follow us on our websites, with our newsletters, and in our social media platforms. Your support is invaluable to us. It encourages each of us to hear from you and to see that you opened our email.
Writing Began As A Childhood Dream
Like other Storyteller Squad writers, as a child, I, too, dreamed of being a published author. I knew as a creative person, I needed a job to support myself, so I pursued writing related degrees in college: journalism and English. After graduating from the university, I used my writing skills in marketing and public relations positions, editorial and reporting positions, and eventually as a homeschool teacher.
For many years, I wrote fiction while my family slept. A friend sent me information about Write to Publish in Wheaton, Illinois. At this conference, I learned about all the extra responsibilities aspiring authors needed to pursue like having a website, sending a newsletter, writing blogs, etc. I also discovered online writing groups such as ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) and Word Weavers, to name a few.
This launched me into a critique group where I met the humorous, middle-grade novelist, Burton Cole, and others. When that group dissolved, Burt introduced me to my current critique group, whom you all know as the Storyteller Squad.
While I’ve published years of newspaper articles and features and some magazine articles, I’ve yet to achieve my childhood dream of being an author. But I think I’m getting close, thanks to all I’ve learned through my critique groups.
Last fall, I updated my website to reflect this. I used to post weekly blogs, but now I send a monthly newsletter on the first Thursday of each month unless there is a holiday. Then it will come in your mailbox on the next Thursday.

Please Subscribe To My Newsletter
Subscribers share life with me. In my newsletter, I include news about my novel in progress, what I’m reading, family news, and information I think my readers may find interesting. Sometimes this might be a recipe or a bit of research related to my story, Hidden Treasure.
In Hidden Treasure, the working title for my novel, Danica, a sixteen-year-old, cross-country runner, seeks to prove her value and save the family farm. As her parents’ marriage falls apart and her dad finds solace in faith, Danica wrestles through and discovers what she believes. She also learns more about true friendships and about the inheritance her Papa Sam left her. If they lose the farm, will they lose the treasure her grandfather left behind?
Social Media Platforms
On my website, you’ll find links to my public social media platforms, as well: Instagram and Goodreads.
As a shy introvert, I know I need to post more frequently. I hope to increase my presence to three times per week soon. I currently share reading recommendations. In the future, I hope to share more about my novel and my journey to publication. Reading my newsletter still offers the most news and is more personal because I feel more comfortable sharing privately.
So, please visit my website and subscribe to my newsletter, so that we may stay in touch and you may hear first when my novel is available. You’ll also continue to learn about great books for you and your children.
Thank you for sharing moments of life with me here at the Storyteller Squad blog. May God bless you, your family, and your writing. I hope we’ll stay connected through my newsletter.
Watch for more information from other Storyteller Squad writers coming in future blogs! So far, we’ve heard from Laurie Germaine, Julia White, Jill Willis (who kindly linked to each member’s website!), Sharon Rene, and Leigh DeLozier.
We value building friendships with you! Let’s talk again soon!

I look forward to continuing to follow your publishing journey through your newsletter!
Thank you, Elise. I believe I am following everyone in their newsletters too. It’s fun to hear everyone’s news.
