Elleson is my first book, and it took several years for me to develop it.
My professional background is in marketing and publishing, but specifically as a graphic designer. After my first decade in design, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in Biblical Studies. I always felt I was supposed to be doing more with my mind and my imagination.
In seminary, several professors encouraged me to write. They probably weren’t referring to fiction, but I was already tossing around the idea. Biblical studies tend to stir the imagination, and I’ve always been an avid reader. That’s when I started writing my story.
I met this group a few years back, and I have been thoroughly critiqued and stretched in some pretty uncomfortable ways. It’s one thing to be critiqued in a field where you’re the expert. It’s another to put your story out and realize how much of a newb you are. I have written and rewritten Elleson so many times, I get confused what’s really going on in my story.
