The Storyteller Squad

Best Wishes, From My Imagination to Yours

Hello, dear readers,

Thank you for reading along with us over the years! StorytellerSquad has been a small but meaningful corner of the internet for me, and I’m grateful to have been part of it. Even as my writing life continues quietly on the margins of a busy schedule, I still believe stories matter—and I hope you keep seeking out the ones that stir your imagination and remind you that the world is bigger and more mysterious than it sometimes seems.

I wish I still had a website to usher you toward as we phase out our blog. I work full-time, and writing has always had to simmer on a back burner. That said, I did publish my first novel, Elleson, in 2019. If you’re in the mood for YA world-jumping story about two teenagers: one who experiences a mysterious, powerful life in her dreams, and another who encounters something far darker in the hidden corners of the real world. Their stories collide in ways neither of them expects. The adventure continues in book two, which I’ve finished but haven’t published yet—because time and momentum wait for no one.

I wish you all happy reading and rich imaginations. Until we meet again, I will leave you with a teaser for my first two books:

What if the world where you are strongest… only exists in your dreams?

Daisy has spent years feeling like an outsider in her small Colorado town—scarred, injured, and invisible to most of the world. But when she sleeps, everything changes. In her dreams she is powerful, fearless, and whole—an agile warrior moving through a mysterious realm filled with danger and purpose.

Then Brogan arrives.

The new kid from New York fits in almost immediately. People like him. Teachers notice him. Doors seem to open wherever he goes. Somehow, despite all that, he becomes Daisy’s unlikely friend.

But strange things begin happening around them—whispers in the dark, impossible visions, and moments when reality itself seems to bend.

Brogan encounters something far more troubling in the shadows of the waking world. And when Daisy suddenly disappears, he realizes the impossible may be true: the dream world Daisy visits might be real.

And something there is calling them both.

Drawn into the hidden realm of Elleson, the two teens must confront forces of light and darkness, uncover secrets about themselves, and decide whether they have the courage to step into the roles they were meant to play.

When Brogan followed his half-sister through a shimmering doorway, he thought he was saving her from kidnappers.

He had no idea he was stepping into another world.

Now trapped in Elleson—a land of glowing immortals and ancient magic—Brogan must navigate a realm where darkness is rising and an evil king’s shadow grows. The lightpeople who rescued him speak of an Eternal One and impossible hope, but Brogan is a skeptic from a world of science, not miracles.

When Daisy vanishes again, this time into the heart of enemy territory, Brogan makes a desperate choice to infiltrate the kingdom of Ahl by assuming the identity of a dead lord’s son. But the dark king’s court is a pit of corruption where minds are read, demons walk freely, and one wrong move means death.

Surrounded by brutality he never imagined, Brogan must become harder, colder, and more ruthless to survive. As he commands soldiers twisted by evil and navigates the treacherous politics of a nightmare kingdom, he’s forced to make impossible choices—punish, maim, kill, or be killed himself.

But when a voice begins speaking to him—clear, certain, comforting—Brogan can no longer deny what he’s tried to reject: maybe magic is real. Maybe the Eternal One exists. And maybe, just maybe, he was brought to this world for a reason.

In a land where evil has reigned for centuries, one skeptic might be the key to everything. If the darkness doesn’t consume him first.

Misha McCorkle is an artist, a scholar, and a lover of stories. While working towards her master’s degree in the Old Testament, it occurred to her how important stories are to the growth and maturation of God’s people. They broaden our limited worldview and engage the unfamiliar depths of God’s riches scattered throughout every linguistic and geographical existence.
