New Arrivals: Christian-made Chapter Books

Are you looking for books for your grade schooler?

For the longest time, I wondered where the new Christian-made chapter books were located. Even if you look on big Christian publishers’ websites, the chapter books are few and far between.

The answer is that chapter books are barely published by Christian publishers. There may be one big chapter book series at every publishing house, but it doesn’t compare to the books churned out by major secular publishers.

Therefore, there are many chapter book series being indie published and small presses popping up to fill the need.

Let me tell you about several indie books and a small press that aim to fill the need for grade school kids.

  1. Dear Mouse Princess – a story about a friendless girl who becomes pen pals with a mouse princess
  2. Dessi and Ky Go Poof – a sister-brother duo get teleported to an island where pirates turn people into birds
  3. Ophelia Starcluck Saves the Galaxy – If you like stories with friends, quirky humor, animals, and treks through space, you’ll love Kristen Gwen’s plucky tale.
  4. Iggy and Oz: The Plastic Dinos of Doom – Oz wakes in the middle of the night claiming he heard a monster in the attic. Iggy takes him upstairs to prove him wrong. But instead of a flesh-eating beast, they discover hundreds of their plastic toy dinosaurs that have mysteriously come to life.
  5. The Curse of Ozpa Springs – Gemma just wants to find her dad. But when she stumbles into the strange town of Ozpa Springs, she finds a missing gemstone, a decades old curse, and learns that home is where your family is.

Here is a small press you can follow: Chicken Scratch Books – Their motto is “Our old agenda is good literature.”

What can you expect from my books?

You can expect adventure and children to act like children. One thing always on my mind is how the child will interpret bad behavior since I write for my kids. There are tense scenes, but they resolve quickly and in a way that shows nothing close to gore.

My books are aimed to show sharing, family love, parents the children love, friendship, repentance, and fun out of the box experiences.

What are my future plans?

I have other chapter books in the works, but my main focus is writing books for teens. I will keep my newsletter subscribers informed about my latest releases.

Where can we stay connected? You can sign up for my newsletter here. I also hang out on Instagram and Facebook.
