Louisiana’s Way Home

Fun Friday Reads

Louisiana’s Way Home is not about the perfect family.

Instead, author Kate DiCamillo spins a story around spunky Louisiana Elefante whose heart is turned inside out when she learns the truth about herself and her family. The book begins with Louisiana’s granny waking her up in the middle of the night because the day of reckoning has arrived, and the two drive to a strange, new town. DiCamillo captures the reader through Louisiana’s wit and savvy charm as she finds a new life, friends and forgiveness.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. DiCamillo is an expert at balancing happy and sad scenes with sweet humor, while her quirky characters often mirror our own lives. And better yet—the ending makes the reader smile.

Reading this book during the holidays will lift your heart, especially if you need an escape from your own perfect family.

For Thanksgiving, I gotta say it’s the pie. And family, too, of course, but I see them all the time, so give me pie. 🙂 🙂 🙂
