The Best Gift

It’s not too late. You can still give the perfect gift.

Grab a pen, pencil, crayon, computer—anything for writing. Ready?

Give a gift of words.

Name someone who doesn’t want to read words written for them? Love, encouragement, and appreciation can’t be bought or wrapped. But these gifts can be given through words.

It doesn’t have to be a formal letter. Jot down your word-gifts on different strips of paper. Fold the strips and hide them around the house, or fold each one and place them in a box or bag with instructions to read one each day.

Get going with these ideas:

I love you for who you are.  You are…

(kind, generous, witty, honest, fair, patient, trustworthy)

I appreciate how you…

(listen, offer advice, share ideas, work hard, include me, never give up)

Thank you for helping me…

(finish a project, solve a problem, face a challenge)

Thank you for teaching me…

(how to fix, or make, or build___________)

We—The Storytellersquad—thank you for reading our stories and sharing our words. We wish you all a blessed Christmas!

Tell me who you surprised with your word-gifts!     gretchencarlsonwriter@gmail.com
