Hello there. My name is Sharon Rene and I’m so excited to be a part of The Storyteller Squad. I hope you’ll drop by often.
So what is The Storyteller Squad? Good question.
We are a group of children’s and young adult writers who critique each other’s work and encourage one another in this bumpy writing journey.
On this blog, you’ll learn more about each of us and find out what we write and why we write. No matter your age, gender or the type of books you like to read you will find something that catches your interest.
I am a fledgling writer who still works the day job to pay the bills. My cat Libby Lou is my favorite writing partner as you can see from the picture. She’s also my favorite model. Hard to believe she’s “the worst cat in the world.” At least the most spoiled!
I enjoy writing in a variety of genres–children, young adult, flash fiction and romantic suspense. In May 2018, my children’s book entitled A Mixed Bag of God’s Grace was released by TouchPoint Press. It’s a book of short stories–biblical, historical and contemporary–for ages seven to twelve years old. Last Saturday, I had my first book reading and book signing at Novel bookstore in Memphis, Tennessee.
Currently, I’m writing a young adult series and I am very excited about it. There are three books: Hesitant Heroes, Relentless Rebels and Defying Destiny. I’m writing Defying Destiny now. It’s a prequel to the other two, so it’s fun to write. Later, I’ll let you in on the specific difficulties in writing a prequel. I’m learning as I go!
If you like exciting YA like Ally Carter’s Embassy Row series or Lisa McKay’s My Hands Came Away Red–you will enjoy the Divine Destiny series. In my books, nine teenage friends get pulled into danger when they realize that Christian students are missing from campus. It’s the year 2062, and the world is ruled by a powerful global collective. The friends, called Team Seven, must rescue the missing students and stop the assassination of a well-known political figure. Big job for a bunch of teenagers.
There’s a lot of drama, intrigue, a little fun, and definitely romance in my YA books.
On this blog, I plan to tell you more about this series. I’ll introduce you to the characters and share writer secrets.
But I won’t forget about the children. There will be interesting tidbits for the under twelve crowd and maybe a short story or two.
So whether you are a child, tween, teen, young adult, older adult or anywhere in between–please stop back in and visit me and the other writers in the Storyteller Squad. We look forward to getting to know all of you better.
