Quest for Celestia Reading Activities to do with your Teens

As a homeschooling mom, I’m always on a quest for good curriculum and ways to enhance my children’s learning. So, I made a list of fun activities for this book (whether or not you read it).

Some activities to do with your teens:

  1. Compare and Contrast Pilgrim’s Progress and Quest for Celestia. You can watch the movie version, listen to the audiobook, or read Pilgrim’s Progress. While reading Quest for Celestia, you can find the similar types of people who they meet on their quest. You can compare obstacles, temptations, and consequences. Click here for a free compare and contrast worksheet.
  2. Sequence the events. Here is a sheet with different events. Glue the events onto the sequencing sheet. The key is also in the document. (If you’d like a quick rundown of what happens, the sequencing key is a great resource.)
  3. Draw a map of the quest. Here is a fun paper and an example map.
  4. Create character cards. Click here to print out a character card worksheet.
  5. Discuss the Christian walk using the different story events. Here discussion question cards.

Side note:

  • Quest for Celestia is a great book for teen boys and girls. There are many parts that contain insinuations to Leira being raped in the baron’s basement. It is not vulgar, but it does come up many times. There is a part where Kadin gets tempted to do what the baron’s men did to her too. It’s worded just like I worded it. This might be a great opportunity to speak to your teen about sexual temptation. You can ask what they thought about how Kadin handled his thoughts and actions when he got tempted.

I’d love to here if this helps you and your thoughts about Quest for Celestia.

Can you think of other fun activities to do with this novel?
