Do you ever get tired of waiting on God?
Honest now. We all do.
This has been a hard year for all of us. It’s like the world turned upside down.
We all make plans; dream dreams and we all want God to hurry and make things all work out.
Unfortunately, that’s not the way God does things.
In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we read: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
In the Message it states: “There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on earth:”
I have been working on my young adult trilogy for over five years.
I’ve sent out many submissions and could probably wallpaper a small room with the rejection letters.
There were many times that I wanted to give up, but. . .
Anaiah Press is going to publish all three of my books!!!
Yes, the Divine Destiny series has finally found a home.
The first book, Hesitant Heroes, is scheduled to come out next September.
Needless to say, this is a dream come true and an answer to prayer. I am so grateful that God opened the door for my books.
Yet, this made me start wondering about God’s timetable.
My mother has been very sick this year with heart problems. She is getting stronger, thank the Lord, but will never be as strong and independent as she used to be.
As a champion worrier, I spend a lot of my day worrying about her instead of thinking about this exciting time in my writing life.
I’ve asked, “God, why didn’t you let this happen a year ago when Mom was healthier?”
Guess what, God didn’t answer.
That’s right. No shouts from above or angel visitors.
Why should I expect an answer from the God of the Universe?
Job didn’t get one.
Or did he?
Job 42:1-2 (NIV)
Then Job replied to the Lord, “I know that you can do all things: no plan of yours can be thwarted.”
That says it all. God is God and I am not!
God makes the plans. He makes plans for every one of us. Whether you paint, play an instrument, dance, or sing God has a purpose and plan for your talent.
Perhaps, you just want to pass your next Chemistry exam or find the right person to marry. God has a plan for that too. AND God has His timetable.
So, don’t give up.
Keep dreaming and working hard. Things will work out as God has planned and when God has planned. If my dream can come true – yours can too!!!
I pray that God will use my YA trilogy to touch teens as well as adults. In Hesitant Heroes, the main character, Jordan, believes that she was sent to an elite boarding school “for such a time as this.” She loves the book of Esther.
Just like Esther (and Jordan) we are all placed in a particular spot at a certain time to do what God has decreed.
We just have to wait on God’s timetable.
I’d love to hear what you think about God’s timetable. Comment below and let me know how you’ve coped with waiting in your own lives.
I’m thrilled that Anaiah Press offered you a contract. You wrote an awesome series that teens will devour. Congratulations!
Thanks so much.
I have to remind myself that God’s timing is always best. 🙂
So true.
It is so very hard to wait on God sometimes. Especially when we have our own plans and agenda-even when we know He’s called us to something, it is still very hard to wait for Him. Sometimes I have to force myself to get still before Him and listen. Otherwise I find myself running in circles, confused. I’m so excited for this journey for you!
We’re excited with you for Hesitant Heroes to be published. I wonder if individuals in other cultures or time periods struggle with waiting like most of us. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m thankful that God is in control, and has the perfect timeline.
